The project „Visegrad Policy Briefs: Converging Regional Positions“ aims to contribute to the shaping of the V4 political agenda through concrete expertise in the areas of shared interest, as well as to strengthen common Visegrad identity in foreign policy and security issues.

Being aware of the utmost importance and direct implications of the changing transatlantic and global political and security environment on the Central European region and acknowledging that shared challenges would be better dealt with on the basis of regional cooperation, we and our partners aspire to contribute to expert discussion on four highly actual topics:

1. „The V4 policy towards the emerging democracies of the Mediterranean coast“

2. „The contribution of the Visegrad countries to the integration process of the Western Balkans“

3. „Implications of the decreasing US involvement in Europe for the Visegrad region“

4. „Shared Visegrad interests considering competing pipeline projects in Eurasia“

The project „Visegrad Policy Briefs: Converging Regional Positions“ runs with the support of the International Visegrad Fund and it is organized by CD International.

Aims

The main result of the project will be the publication of four quarterly published policy briefs on the selected topics. The papers will include an analysis of all countries´ national interests and positions regarding the specific topic, followed by an analysis of compatibility and perspectives of convergence of interests and positions of the V4 countries. This will be supported by four expert meetings providing an opportunity for the experts to discuss and agree on the publication outputs. Moreover, the project outcomes will be distributed by the CD International and its partners, as well as published in the Euro-Atlantic Quarterly magazine.

Target Groups

Resulting from the policy-oriented goals of the project, its primary target groups naturally include representatives of governments and parliaments, other key decision makers from the Visegrad region, as well as its broader security communities. The project itself connects and networks experts from four countries and aspires to involve other representatives from the academia, non-governmental and private sectors as well.
